Drawing cell text dissappearing (?) 1

Hi all,

Anybody encountered this ?

On a drawing (Proe2001) Text has been entered into the revision table on the format. Drawing saved and checked in.
When reopened the Text is no longer there.

Strangely, when the cell is selected > properties. The text seems to be there. When the "Enter text" dialogue box is closed the text in the cell reappears !

Alas when I do View > Update all sheets, it dissappears again.

So the text semms to be there it just isn't displaying it (?)

Anybody know how to fix?
Any replies greatly appreciated

I have seen this with dimensions and notes, and generally is a video display problem. Try printing when the text is disappeared. Does the text print?

When this happened to me, zooming in and out caused the text to appear and disappear with the zoom level.

I have had a similar experience with WF BOM.

In my case, I had attempted to write dumb text into repeat regions. That was causing the problem. The fix was to insert new rows into the table, rows without repeat regions.

Thanks for the replies folks.

No layers are turned off and the text doesn't print either.
The last comment about 'dumb text' being entered could be the one.

The guy who has created this problem gives new meaning to that word

He can't remember what he has done and I am left to fix it

I have a German PTC help guy working on it but he has yet to reply after 48hrs. Tried bringing in the format again and deleting the text and re-entering still no use.

I will persevere

Try to open the drawing on another workstation. At least you will know if there is a hardware/driver display problem or is something wrong with the drawing.

I am just a beginner,subject to using wrong terminology etc., but your problem sounds so much like what I had, let me try.....

You should be able to see whether or not dumb text was entered into a repeat region. Try this....

Table > Repeat Region > Switch Syms

Now look at the table. Mine shows repeat regions surrounded by a green box. The dumb text, previously blanked, lit up (only to go blank again later). Repeat region cells with smart links show code for those links. My solution was to delete the rows with the dumb text, insert new rows with no repeat regions, re-enter the dumb text (which is nevertheless needed).

Repeat the Switch Syms command to get back to a normal view.
