Drawing - Isometric view - broken-out section

Hello

Is it possible to have a broken-out section in an isometric view in a drawing? Help doesn't say it is not possible?
I have an assembly which i require a broken-out section to display the frame underneath.

I have been able to create the broken-out section on an isometric view but it is not displaying. I have been selecting a edge to break down to - so direction does not seem to be the problem?

I am able to create broken-out section views on 2d views, so procedure does not seem to be the problem?

In the mean time i have put a cut in the assembly model under a different configuration.....this is not ideal.

Yes it is possible, I just did it on a simple rectangular block. However, the depth selection does not appear to work as expected. The "cut" does not extend back to the selected edge. I was able to manipulate the spline to enlarge/deepen the "cut", but it was a very hit-and-miss approach.

i had managed to get a broken view the same as you but the cut seems to be going into the page - rather than any particular plane.

I had been expecting that the cut would be on the top plane or front plane etc.

Unfortunately i cannot use it that way as i need to show the framing underneath, which requires a cut parallel to the top plane. So i have used a cut in the assembly model.

It would be a nice addition for future revisions. (I am using 2004 sp4)

A simple solution is to create a seperate configuration with the cut in the assembly. You then can create an isometric view of that configuration in your drawing and apply area hatching to faces that need it.

I've had no problems using this method in any version of solidworks.

That is exactly what i had done, but it is not ideal because i had a face split for fea loading, which meant i had a bit of extra config work, but i got around it eventually.

The ideal solution would have been when you get to a drawing and you find that you require a broken view in a isometric, to be able to select a face in the isometric and then sketch a spline of which the cut is based, and then detail the depth of the cut.

Rather than having to go back to the original assembly and creating another configuration with a cut and then correcting all the other references.

I will make a suggestion to s/w.
