Drawing Issues - Missing Dimensions

I work for a company that produces shocks for motor sports. We have a line of about 10 types of Rear Shocks. All shocks use the same hardware at the final level. The hardware consists of 20 different iterations. We take advantage of Family Tables to incorporate this. We are having difficulties with dropped dimensions in our drawings (dimensions missing or turning blue). I am getting tired of re-producing drawings every time I open them. I’ve had IT, our ProE guru and PTC check into this all to no avail.

Is there a limit to the size of Family Tables one can produce, as our tables are getting pretty large?

We don’t use Intralink or such which may contribute to our problem.

With this is mind, is there a better solution?

I am desperate here. I can’t keep working for a company that has these kinds of issues. All I do all day long is recreate what I did the day before.

Thank you.

Hi CadFreak,

I am not sure if I under stand your problem. Are you adding dimension or on the drawing or showing real dimensions. Another thing you might be able to try is to lock the dimensions in the family table. I have not locked dimensions like this before so I do not know what kind of problems it will create but may help you. It sounds like multiple users are changing dimensions which tie to your drawing or you are making dimensions at the drawing level which lose their attachment references.

Toff,

I am adding dimensions as opposed to showing them due to added text on the original part drawing dimension which would not apply to the Final Assembly Drawing...if that makes sense?

In other words, when I show the dimension in the final assembly drawing, it shows an asterisk which signifies an inspection dimension on the original piece part drawing (not my idea as I know ProE has its own symbol for that). We don't want to show the asterisk.

Thanks!
