I am wondering about detail views. If i have a long block drawn up with symmetrical ends and I create a detail view of complex features on one end of the block, how would I tell the reader that the other end is symmetrical? Could I write in "2X Detail View A" or should I add a 2X next to every dimension that is repeated on the opposite side?

Thanks!

I believe "DETAIL A 2X" is acceptable. I'll sometimes write out the 'X' as 'PLACES' in this situation as people get used to seeing the X next to dimensions etc.

ASME Y14.35 doesn't explicitly say anything, 14.5 doe say X can be used in lieu of places.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)
