Hello,
Is there a way I can set a specified scale for a drawing sheet when creating a new drawing? It seems when I drag and drop assy's or parts into a drawing template, it scales at random. Example 1: I have a part that's 2x3x6 and drop it into a "D" size drawing template. It's scale is 4:1. Example 2: Example 1: I have a part that's 2x3x7 and drop it into a "D" size drawing template. It's scale is 2:1. I know the part is a little longer, but automatically changes the scale from 4:1 to 2:1. I don't get it?

Thank you,

I believe SW calculates (guesses ?) the scale by assuming the standard 3 views will be placed.

Autoscaling

Automatically scale new drawing views in the Drawings Options controls the scaling of new views as follows:

When selected, the SolidWorks software automatically scales the views to best fit on the drawing sheet, and the scale of the drawing sheet becomes the same as the scale of the views.

When cleared, the views are inserted at the scale of the drawing sheet.

Automatically scale new drawing views. Standard 3 Views are scaled to fit the drawing sheet, regardless of the paper size selected. This setting can create odd scale values.

Cool CBL!

But.....define "When Cleared"

"When cleared, the views are inserted at the scale of the drawing sheet."

But.....define "When Cleared"

When the Automatically scale new drawing views option is NOT selected in Tools > Options > System Options > Drawings
