What controls the scale of the resulting view when you use a drawing template that has predefined views? I thought it would inherit the view scale of the template or possibly scale the views so that they all fit on the paper size chosen, but this does not seem to be the case. If you take the file I have attached and create a new drawing with the supplied templates (eg A0 with views), the views will be at 1/2 scale.

I would like the views to be at full scale.

OK, this is based on what it takes to fit the part into the predefined views on the drawing template, so it all comes down to how large you wish to make those views to start with. Larger the view, the more likely that a larger scale will be used. However, we didn't want to make the predefined views too large since that might not leave enough room to add dimensions and annotation, so it's a bit of a trick to get it right.

Anyway, I modified a copy of the original A0 drawing template, editing the views so that they were larger, and have attached it below. Just replace the existing file in the UGII/templates folder (rename the old file first just in case you wish to go back to it). Once you've done that, restart NX and try your part test over again.

So these predefined views will not have an automatic boundary that expands to fit the part?

If I need to tinker more with the view size what is the best method? Do I delete the predefined views and bring in a part similar in size to what I expect, or is there more to it than that?
 
No, just select the view, press MB3, select 'View Boundaries', change the 'Automatic Rectangle' option to 'Manual Rectangle', using the cursor drag a new view boundary, set the option back to 'Automatic Rectangle' and hit OK. Repeat for each view on the template just eyeballing it as the system only requires that it be close, not perfect. Once you're done, save the template and you're in business. BTW, the system is designed to only give you legitimate standards based drawing view scales, using one scheme for Metric and another for Imperial unit drawings.

Is there any way to turn off standards based drawing view scales only and use just the value that best fit. I need to produce A4 sheets that serve as a visual aid only for our production department. Scale values, particularly for larger components are too limited when I need clarity in the views more than adherence to standards.
 
What I did when I set up my stndard Drawing templates was to leave one of each size without any predefined views whatsoever. That way when I use one of these 'empty' drawings, the system will automatically ask me for the view that I wish to place giving me the chance to set the scale, orientation, Arrangement, etc. manually on the fly.
