Drawing to .dxf from NX Journaling site... not working in NX8.5 native

We have been using the Drawing to .dxf code from “NX Journaling” in NX7.5 and it has been a real time saver.

Configuring NX8.5 native and the existing code failed. Found updated code from NX Journaling site here:

however this still has some issues in our native NX environment.

The code completes the initial .cgm export, however NX hangs at that point. The log file includes the line: *** Failed to load NX part file. This prt file does not exist OR NX prt file may be from higher version ***: C:\Temp\UGS\basc1638b54fr8g2.prt. (FYI, in our environment, UGII_TMP_DIR= C:\Temp\UGS ). Thanks in advance for any insight.

Do you still have NX 7.5 installed? Make sure that your journal isn't depending on some variable that is still pointing to an NX 7.5 resource. Also, since the 'nxjournaling' site is run by our fellow E-Tipper cowski, perhaps he'll step in here and help you out.

I have tested it on NX 8.5 and it works; unfortunately, my testing only verifies that it works on my configuration...

If it worked for you on NX 7.5, but errors in 8.5; that indicates to me there is a significant difference in your environment. The journal writes info to the log file as it executes; it writes specific lines at the start and end of execution, it looks something like:

~ Start of drawing to DXF journal ~
lots of stuff
lots of stuff
~ End of drawing to DXF export journal ~

If you look in that section it might give you more clues as to what went wrong. Or, if you want, you can email it to me and I'll be glad to take a look.
