A drawing tree aka product configuration tree is a drawing that shows key drawing numbers and part nos on a project by means of lines between boxes (assemblies) and text lines (parts or specs). It is normally used to show only custom parts and assemblies and often includes drawing nos for all other project-related documents. This drawing tree shows the levels of assembly in the product and all pertinent drawing numbers.

Types of documents shown under the Project Title:
Custom Assy part nos
Custom Assy drawing nos
Custom Part part nos and descriptions
Custom Part drawing nos and descriptions
Parts or assemblies with profound function
Parts or assemblies with profound cost
Functional Requirements Specs
Test Specs
Contract No.

This drawing tree is quite useful as it has ALL of the project documents shown on just one or two sheets of paper (could be more depending on size of project) usually drafted on D-size format. As a management tool, you can write next to each document number and title the name of the responsible individual, the due date, and even budgetary figures.

If anyone has a format/template they'd be willing to share that does this sort of thing I'd be VERY grateful. The assembly boxes typically have dynamic data attributes blocks for the rows of require text.
