Please can anybody suggest what can be done to get a decent view of this valve block. It looks to be a pretty decent solid model, it certainly doesnt have any display issues in modelling, however, when a view is placed, it looks horrific, as per the attached image. I have tried a few things, but to no avail.

Cheers

Si

Has this part been updated using the NX 7.5 refile program? For proper rendering in Drafting, it's important that all legacy parts be fully updated to NX 7.5 model standards, particularly if you're utilizing the 'Lightweight' representations in the Assembly model from which the Drawing is being created.

Also, check the model with Examine Geometry (if you have not already). I have seen a couple of rare cases where it looked ok in modeling, but one or more geometry errors messed up the drafting view.

I have done an examine geometry on it and its full of self intersections. it's always going to be a problem I guess when working with suppliers data that has been imported.

Thanks anyway.

As one could imagine, 'self-intersections' can raise heck with any sort of Hidden-Line Removal computation. If the parametrics of this part, if they even exist, aren't critical, then you might try to clean it up using the...

File -> Export -> Heal Geometry...

...utility.
