I dont want to be able to change my model from detail drawing dimensions. Is there a way to change this without reloading? I'm not ready to load 2004 yet so I'm still on 2003

I believe you need to reinstall to disable this feature.

BOBORUSH,

Sorry to say this, but I'm quite certain that this is an installation option only and cannot be changed after the fact without going through the process again.

Another option is to not use the model dims in the drawing, and use dimensions added in the drawing itself.

Yes Tick, I think thats what I want to do, I dont care about the model dimensions, in fact I have them turned off on my drawing template as a default. So How do I turn off this dimension driven not driven dialog box that happens on every dimension I add?

I only ever get that message when I dimension from part geometry to drawing sketch entity (i.e. line drawn for slot centerline). It doesn't appear when I go between 2 bits of part geometry.

Tools --> Options --> System Options --> Sketch --> Over defining dimensions

Thats the nail on the head! The Tick Rules! I was ordinate dimensioning from a point that I placed on the drawing instead of from geometry.

Thanks Tick

keep your stick on the ice, we're all in this together
