Drive shaft spline calculations

Hi,

Can someone please point me in the right directions for calculation best type of splines to use for a 5000kg rear axle. We have had problems with an old axle design using straight cut splines. This axle is now up for redesign (to many spline failures !!) and I would like to have a bit of background information when I discuss this with the axle supplier.
