driver for Helmholtz coils

I am trying to design a driver for a Helmholtz coil pair which is for a medical device (magnetic stimulation). The coils are 30cms diameter and the space between them is 50cms. The specification requires 75 turns on each coil and the power output is 0.5mT. The circuit is pulsed at 50Hz with a 1 second interrupt. Can anyone tell me a good circuit diagram for a driver for this device? Any help is greatly appreciated.

How about an audio amplifier that can accept low-Z output? Worst case, include a series resistor.

Have you calculated how much electrical current you require?

 
If it is a pulse output then you need to define a bit more about the pulse than just the repetition rate: pulse width, risetime, falltime...

You could use an LA400 linear single phase current mode amplifier from Varedan.


This would allow the fastest rise time into the coil [up to 150 VDC across the coil] and the amplitude of the pulse sets the current into the coil.
