Can anyone verify the dimensional requirements for drop panels. I believe the code reads that the distance from the edge of the column to edge of the drop panel = thickness of drop panel (additional) x 4. I have a 12x24 column, 12" PT slab and 10" drop panel. If these dimensional requirements are correct, the drop panel needs to be about 9'x9' (rounded up). This seems a little large. Any help is appreciated.
