Hello All,

I am not able determine why call dropout time when using a contactor vs opening time when using circuit breaker?

WHy cannot the dropout time of a contactor referred to as opening time?

Opening is in response to a signal. Dropping out is in response to the removal of a signal. A mechanically held contactor might have an opening time, but an electrically held contactor has a dropout time since it is not told to open but rather it drops out when no longer told to be closed.
