I have a couple of drawing files that have many parts from an assembly detailed on separate sheets. Everytime I open the drawing file some of the sheets need updating. This happens even when nothing on the models has changed.
#1 Is there a setting to automatically update drawing views upon open?

or

#2 Is there a way to update all sheets without activating each sheet?

I dont think so, but I have noticed that the sheets that arent updating are ones with section views. The first sheet is an assembly drawing and the other sheets are detail drawings.

You could try:

Tools>Options>System Options>Drawings>Allow auto-update when opening drawings.

The drawback is longer file open times.

Let us know if that helps.

Another minor question? Are any of the parts in the assembly set as Flexible?

In large assembly drawing too, I would recommend you try "rapiddraft" drawings so that it does not load the models unless you specifically ask it to... much faster open times... Read up on them and try them out

We create multiple part details at our company. I am fairly new with Solid Works and I am attempting to find out if there is a way that the BOM list can be automated based on what models are inserted into the detail sheet.
Are there any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lon
