Hi everyone,

Recently I`m involved in a dry dock design which is approx. 120m in length x 50m in width x 9m in heigth at a fat clay soil where GWL is +1.00m. Top of ground is +1.6m. There is a weathered rock layer at around -8 to -15.

I`m planning to use Jet Grouting columns all around the dock with a dia of 80cm, intersecting in order to cut water coming, have a 30cm Reinf.conc.wall with ground anchors(temporary type).

I take into account the seepage especially from bottom and the uplift of water to the clay layer under dock base.

I solve this with some excel sheets, but I`m not very experienced in such a design like this. How do you calculate the water pressure`s effect to the clay layer under the basement? Can anyone advise me a source about such kind of water storage or dry dock design? Any of your comments or ideas about such a design will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
