Hi Guys,
I am trying to source a Transformer company that has Type Test Certification IEC 60076-11 for a Vacuum Pressure Impregnated Insulation
in a IP65 enclosure. My clients requirement is a fully rated 1600kVA 11000/550volt no load AN operating in a ambient temparature of 50deg C
although my absorbed motor load is 20% less. I find Tailand, and China are side stepping the issue of Type tested - they mainly have encapsulated cast resin.

Be very careful with large dry types. Not many companies have the capability to make them well, and there is variation among factories belonging to the same organisation. Generally the Western European plants belonging to the big manufacturers like ABB and Siemens are good, those elsewhere in the world are less dependable. I'll exclude the US and Canada from that last remark because I don't doubt that there are good North American manufacturers, I just don't know that market well enough to comment.

Make sure you pay particular attention to partial discharge levels: define maximum acceptable levels at the time of order. Measure before and after any testing, and ensure that the contract is well written in case there are problems at test. [wink]
