Is there a way to always position dual dimensions in the to right orientation? I am tired of having to select each dimesion and go the properties window, yadda yadda. I could not locate an option for this...any help??

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

The setting you are looking for should be in the .DTL file. This will only correct the problem for new drawings.

What is the setting in the .DTL file? I have not been able to find it.

Thanks,
DM.

Mike,

Is what Tofflemire said. In drawing mode go to ADVANCED->DRAW SETUP and locate the DUAL_DIMENSIONING and change default value from NO to primary[secondary]. Therea are other parameters you can play to setup the right number of decimals.

You can save these changes as "drawing.dtl" This is the DTL file Tofflemire was talking about.

I have the dual_dimensioning value set in the .DTL file. This is not the problem. I cannot find the parameter that controls the 'to right' positioning. Does such a parameter exist?

Thanks for the help,
DM.

Hi Mike,

Not sure if this will work. In the .DTL file look for or add "text_orientation" set it to parallel from horizontal.

Remember this will only work on new drawings, so try it out on a new drawing with a part or assembly.

I have a hard copy of the .DTL parameter list, not sure were it was print off from...

Hope this helps

The only way I know of to do it is (in the drawing) go to the dimension properties and check Dual dimension Position To right. (2001)

I couldn't find a drawing configuration file setting for this either.
