Hello Everyone,
I am a fresh engineer just out of college.
Recently, my boss gave me the task for ordering QD bushings used for pulleys and shafts.
The QD bushings will be used in the following areas:
1) for fans
2) for pumps
3) outdoor environments (land, Sea)
4) indoors (pump room)
5) used for motors within the range of 7.5HP to 300HP for the following speeds 900, 1200, 1800 or 3600
The QD bushings must be corrosion prove and able to withstand high heats due to start up torque.
After speaking to several vendors they narrowed down the material options to:
1) Ductile Iron
2) Sintered Steel
Because of the language barrier I had trouble understanding why these two materials were suitable for my application.
So that's why im hoping some experienced engineers from this forum can help me out with the reason why ductile iron and sintered steel is a suitable material for QD Bushing?
Thank you.
