Morning all,

Is there anyway to copy geometry in drafting in nx7.5. I want to show a dotted component view (that i have done) but then i'm not delivering the component, so when the customer gets the drawings and updates them, the component will disappear. So i want to copy the lines of the component onto the sheet, so if was to delete the component or what ever the lines are still there. We tend to do this in catia v5 where there is a function to do it.

Have a look at the sketch feature in drafting, you can project curves, manually add curves, etc... . Just have the view selected in the Sketch Tools toolbar, standard set to sheet, and then you can sketch as much as you want, afterwards goto Style view and have hidden lines set to invisible.

Best regards,

Michaël.

What I do is give them a PDF of the drawing.
File -> Export -> PDF

As Ufshure noted,
Double click the view where you want the dotted lines to appear, set the visible lines dotted under the tab Visble Lines and on the general tab turn on Extracted edges. OK.
Then the dotted curves will be there without the component. ( and be there with the component present too.)

Tomas

A detailed view does no update deleted lines, althought you could not delete the whole view.
