Does anybody have any Fabrication and Inspection suggestions or concerns with welding Duplex SS like (2205)?
I have inspected 304,316,347 SS. Any help with the farication and in-process/final inspection?

I have a suggestion. Review the attachment from the web site below;

The pdf file is titled
16000 Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Duplex Stainless Steels (2002)
PDF File Size: 1.05MB

This is one of the most comprehensive sources of information on handling duplex stainless steel materials.

Metengr, excellent reference.

Wdorey,
In my opinion, if there is one thing in the fabrication of Duplex type stainless steels, an inspector should be watching for, it would be heat input.
A fabricator qualifies his procedures, and typically performs a barrage of tests, impacts, corrosion, ferrite point count, etc., but, if he doesn't stay within the qualified heat input ranges, for tackwelding and welding of the joints, or if he say, atempts to straighten a nozzle with heat, its all for naught.
