Hello to all veiwing this. not sure this is the right place to popst but here goes. I'm trying to duplicate a part from my car's dash in clear plastic to accomodate lighting behind the said part. for a more detailed report please read on.
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and they have plastic rings around the round a/c vents on the dash. (5 total) What I want to do is take one and duplicate it in something clear so that i can put LED lights behind it or Neon to illuminate the vents for a custom touch. If you know what to do or can help me out please feel free to.
thank you!!!!

Do some research in Urethane. You will likely find what you're looking for.

Dmitchell is on the right track.... Check in with a local pattern/modeling supply house in your area and ask about optically clear urethanes. You can pull a quickie mold from the part in rubber...one piece if you’re tricky...and pour the shape you want. The hard part with this material is getting the bubbles out. We’ve rigged up and simple vacuum chamber with an old heavy cooking pot to draw out the air before the mix material is poured in the mold. The supplier should have details on this step too.

Sounds fun. Good luck!
