Can anyone offer a decent way to convert DWF files to DWG files. I have a large project where we can't get DWG backgrounds, only DWF files. Since these were obviously created with AutoCAD, I am hoping there is an easy conversion tool.

Thanks!

That is kind of the point of the dwf file now isn't it.

Although I have never worked with them, I do believe that you overlay them into your drawings.

I would think the only tool out there would be a crack and not sponsered by autodesk.

I have found various freeware and shareware programs online to use. I was hoping some one would know of something that would be appropriate. I don't do much work in AutoCAD. My work is done in AutoSprink, which is a 3d fire sprinkler program. But, AutoSprink will import DWG files. The problem is that I need to convert the DWFs to DWG before I can import to my program. I know that ACAD 2008 will allow you to reference the file, but if I can't bind it, it doesn't help. So, I am running out of ideas.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I have just had an experience with a similar issue. I use AutoCAD Civil 3D and received a DWF to insert. All of the converters that I have found will convert the DWF to a DWG with a catch. The DWF becomes an image in the DWG file that is created. I don't know if that is of any assistance, but there is no dircet conversion of a DWF to a vectorized DWG.
