I'd like create my own patterns. Is it possible without learning the complex .pat code?

Thanks in avance.

Anyway, if no free program are avaiable does someone know a good tutorial about the .pat code?
I know that the numers mean:
angle, x-origin, y-origin, x-offset, y-offset[, dash1, ...]
but in with my knowledge I can only make very simple pattern and surely not roof or wood effects.

I just recently saw this ....
If you have the "express tools" for AutoCAD 2000i, under "draw" ... see "superhatch".
This LISP allows you to take a "block" pattern and use it as a hatch pattern on the fly.

Its a little "too many steps" but its better than nothing.

And there use to be software out there that would allow you to drawing the pattern and it would comply it to the appropriate code. You would then copy and paste the code to the ACAD.PAT file.

I don't know if they're still out there but here's a few I remember.

"Patternmaker" by 4Dgraphics
"Patternexpress" by CADware Alliance LTD
"HatchPRO" by Robert Ray and Associate Inc"
???Pallisades ???? something (they were the makers?)

I hope this helps....
These were around when I was using r12 DOS.

But good luck anyway.

"M"
I did a search for those past programs with no luck.

But the last program was by "Pallisades Research" @ "
I remember it now...
The lisp program was "pmaker.lsp". The LSP file had like 10 or so files associated to it. They all fitted on a disk. You had to draw a 1 inch by 1 inch square and draw your pattern in there and then type "PM" to create the pattern text file.

I checked the site butit looks like they don't carry it anymore.

sorry...

but the superhatch shows some promise aside from writing the actual text file for the pattern.
