Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm using NX4 with Teamcenter Engineering V9.1.3.3 and store all our CAD parts/specifications within it. When we create flat patterns we also store the FP manifestation within teamcenter but not the DXF file which we create and send to the lasering company.

I would have though this should be simple but I can't figure out how to do it. Under the revision I can create a new dataset and add jpegs, pdfs, avi, word and excel documents but no option to choose DXF.

Am I missing something? Any help much appreciated.

Under the new dataset option you can choose the "Graphics File" type which gets it in.

Not sure if this allows you to open it from there though?

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I don't have an option to choose graphics :(

Hi

What your actually looking for is a data set called translations. Have a look at the attached image. It allows you to store numerous types of exported CAD data. hope this helps

Hi,

Thank you so much for the assistance. I'm able to select UGMASTER and import DXF. The option to choose translation isn't available using file-new-dataset :(

Strange?

OK firstly, have you got administration privilidges? If so, you need to create your own customized dataset. Depending on what version of TcEng your running (mine is well old), you need to click on the Admin button at the lower left, below all the My Navigator and PSE buttons etc. This will change the icons in list up the left hnd side, scroll through untill you see Type and select this. It will open up another big list of datasets, there should be one called trasnlations. select it, then over to the right, click the parameters button, this will open another list of th eall the stuff you can add to your dataset, select DXF and close and then perhaps add a description, followed by create. Hope this helps, see image for visual representations.

Best regards

Hmmm, I'll try and find out, but that's about my limit on TcEng I'm afraid. Sorry :-(

Hi everyone :)

I've created the dataset type myself and can now import iges etc, hooray :)

BUT, more often than not translation files like DXF's/IGES etc are requested after a component has been released. Obviously this causes a problem as I can't add a new dataset to a revision after it has been released.

Am I missing something? :(
