I have a user who is creating hydraulic circuits in Automation Studio. This system then allows you to export the diagram as a DXF file. However when he tries and imports the DXF into NX to in order to place the diagram on the drawing, there are bits of the diagram missing. If you open the DXF directly in TCVis then it's fine. Is this an inherant problem in NX as I know DXF translator is a bit wonky. Is there a better method or perhaps I can change a setting. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't really know for sure, but check that there aren't entities that are hidden. i.e. blanked, view dependent, on other layers, or simply the same color as your background.

Thanks Hudson
We've covered all those, but with no joy, but thank you anyway.

Simon.

Simon,

If Automation Studio offers a .cgm export, that may be the ticket for you. Especially if the diagram is just going to sit on the NX drawing, and associativity isn't a concern.

You also might want to make sure the missing parts aren't actually special symbols that the DXF standard doesn't recognize. This could apply to both the export and the import.

If it were me, I'd send the file to GTAC (if possible) and ask them why you can view the drawing in one product without a problem but the other product isn't exactly the same.
