E-Stop at aircraft fueling hydrant valve 1

I have been asked to provide an E-Stop at an aircraft fueling hydrant pit. I am new to design of such equipment but am unsure of the requirement for this and have not seen this equipment on any of the hydrant pits I inspected. Could someone direct me to the pertinent safety or design standards. or direct me to more specific design procedures?

I used to see FAA Advisory Circulars on airport design. I wouldn't be surprised to find ACs on fueling topics that reference specifications.

Why not check the FAA web sites.

There could also be ICAO, ATA, JAA, or EASA specs out there.

You might even start by surfing the web for aircraft fueling equipment and see what acronyms, specs and terms pop up in the marketing buzz.

I ran a check for AC’s, but did not find much except the three AC’s below, which can be found at

http://www.faa.gov.

There is one Federal Aviation Regulation FAR Part 139 Certification of Airports which explains the procedures airports must have. In the FAR it requires a Airport Certification Manual approved by the FAA. This manual should have what you are looking for in procedures called out in section 18 procedure for protecting persons and property during the storing, dispensing, and handling of fuel and other hazards substances and material required under part 139.321. Section 21 of the manual covers self inspections. Each airport manual will be different and how they handle and store fuel in accordance with FAR 171 through 180. I would start by requesting to review the airport procedures.
