Hi Good Day Everyone,

Please refer to picture below. My question is how can I find out exact the percentage of the reaction & moment from B2 to Column C1 & Perimeter Beam B1. Or just ignore column for B2 design & simply apply point load P to B1 and then the load goes from B1 to C1?

Thanks :)

I vote for assuming that the load goes through B1. By the look of it, you may only get one top and bottom bar into the column anyhow. In theses situations, you can get pretty serious girder torsion cracking against the column.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Bit of engineering judgement here, but as KootK said, I would take it through to the column as shear in B1.

In this case, remember and carefully detail your hanging shear ligs for the intersection of B2/B1.

KootK, Trenno Thanks & Sorry For late reply

If a few rebars can fit in, Can I transfer moment through those rebars? Can I also transfer a fraction of the load in proportion to the width through that orange color interface.

I will use your advice load goes through B1. I am just trying to figure out the actual behavior. :)

Sure, the load path through the column would be the stiffer of the two load paths.
