EDGE BAR INFORMATION DISSAPEARING

When I return to the assembly enviroment from editing a part the information in my edge bar doesn't come back. It's docked on the side but the feild is gray and none of the information updates. I have to shut it off and turn it back on to get the information back. Anyone seen this issue before. (ver 17 with the latest update)
