hey guys,
we grind a lot of carbide tool on a cnc t&cg.... the problem is tat it is very tedious to dress the wheel time and again....and if we dont there are dimensional variations, which need the tool to be reground all over again.....not fair!!!!

any idea of how to choose a good wheel with some good edge retention properties....does tat make the wheel hard tho.....deoth of cut varies from 0.2-0.4 in rough and 0.02 for finish in the same wheel....rpms around....5.5k

No project like this should ever be undertaken in a vacuum. Get the best filter, coolant, and grinding wheel guys that you can find and put them in a room with who ever knows what is actually going on plus some one empowered to make the decisions necessary and then start this project.

Just by playing with the concentration, application and or type of grinding fluid I can move a grinding wheel a grade to a grade and 1/2 in either direction )either harder or softer). figure out what ever one of the players can get you and then make a decision about how you will improve the process -- you might see 3 to 4 times or more increase in G ratio.

PS You might have guessed that I make my living in the MWF business
