Hello,

I'm relatively new to ABAQUS so my knowlegde is really limited. I'm trying to do a simple upsetting simulation with a dynamic explicit step. My problem is that the simulation takes days to finish and in the end aborts because of insufficient disk space (the simulation takes up to 150GB's plus). I already tried to experiment with the mass scaling factor but that always ended up in aborting the simulation. Does editing the field/ history output request help reduce the file size and minimize the computing time?
Thanks in advance!

It has no major effect on the computation time, but you can reduce the ODB size when you reduce the output variables, output regions and output times.

I have seen some fairly significant file I/O time decreases by reducing what gets written to the ODB. The time of the actual computation of the problem appears to stay the same though as you've said
