Editing wireframe

Hi,
How do you extend wireframe lines in 3d.?
When double clicking on the line I am getting the option to re-enter ALL parameters.
On another machine/log-in a double click on the line gave me a dialog which let me simply extend the line by a dimension. ( this was not the extrapolate command but the dialog was similar)

use extrapol it works both surface and curves
