Hi all

I'm a mechanical engineer and I don't have much info about coating.

I'd like to know how much is the effect of coating metal price on the coating process?
Apart from the low thickness of the coating, how much of anode and cathode is used in a coating process? I mean indicatively

I need to know this to understand how the price of a coating process changes when you change the coating metals

If you are talking about platting then it all depends.
The thickness is just one factor, defects (porosity, voids, cracks), morphology (grain size and structure), and metal purity are also important.
In general if you plate slower you can get better uniformity and density, and slow costs money. And more metal helps usually, which also costs money.
But just putting down more metal dose not assure better performance.

Is there a standard table for coast calculation?

Look up the information and discuss with several plating companies that do this as their core business.

So you mean there is no way I can ask them to sepcify their cost calculations?

I've seen a calculator on AGA website but only for zinc coating

Sure you can ask for how they cost it. They may provide some input for the questions you seek in terms of anode use and cathode use. I would discuss this with several plating companies, and not just one to shop around.
