Effect of Control Valve Stroke Length on Response Time

I am considering replacing a 6" cage guided globe valve with a 6" back-pressure regulator. The globe valve has a stroke length of around 3 inches whereas the regulator has a stroke length of around 1 1/2 inches. The valve has to provide a very quick response time to limit back-pressure during pump start-up. It is likely that the back-pressure regulator will have a better response time due to the shorter stroke length?

IMO, the selection of the control valve vs. back-pressure regulator can be based on several factors, such as quick action vs modulating controlling function, adjusting flow rates, etc.
The regulator valve can be used to simplify the control function and replace the typical control valve if it can satisfy the process need.
