Hello all,

Does lime mixed in the back filling soil have any effect on the fusion bond epoxy pipe coating?

Thanks,
Arash

Probably not at normal concentrations. Over time the lime reacts with the water in the soil because it is applied to bring up the soil's Ph to more neutral values. With that in mind it might even help the pipe by reducing soil acidity. It is also used to lower the expansion and contraction index limits of sticky clays, which should tend to reduce any extremely high cohesion stresses on pipe coatings as soil moisture variations occur throughout the year, no matter what coating you might be using.
