hi everybody

how can i assign effect of soil load on retaining wall

in etabs prgramm?

Why don't you apply this as a triangular loading considering (if water table is not present) active condition of the soil mass.
 
Yeah...select your shell element (I assume you are using shells to model your wall) then Assign a triangular area load to it...

Also be sure to go to Display Load to make sure it's pointing in the right direction.
 
If you have a surcharge due to the proximity of a building foundation, you could extend the soil triangle up a couple offeet above the grade to allow for this.

Similarly, if you have a traffic load, you could apply an extra 100 psf uniform load, for example, the full height of the wall. Consult your geotech for the proper loading to apply in your particular design case.
