EFW pipe

I am trying to find which pipeline manufacturer's produced EFW pipe and for what years. Is there some sort of comprehensive list out there somewhere with this type of info?

So far I found a pamphlet stating that AO Smith is the only manufacturer but doesn't list a time frame.

Why do you need this information? Also, this is a rather open ended question, for example - what type of pipe material, industry, etc.,?

If this is for the Power Industry with regards to sema welded hot reheat, fittings and elbows probably the best source of information on this would be EPRI. However, unless your a member you will not be able to obtain this information.

Are we to read 'EFW pipe' as either ERW or HFW pipe? Since the word 'pipeline' is mentioned - API 5L would be a good starting point for using terminology that we can all understand. After that, one could then look at the API certified pipe suppliers for API 5L pipe at

It will take a bit of ancillary research to ascertain which mills are using electric welding (HFW, ERW, and the misused HFI). As will this site:

A.O. Smith pioneered the "flash butt welding" process. EFW pipe is commonly referred to as "Electric Fusion Welded" pipe and has been and is being produced by a host of USA and international manufacturers; the same is true for manufacturers of electric resistance welded (ERW)pipe.

As Steve indicated, what do you really want to know?
