Dear all,
I ask you to evaluate the draft of detachable connection of two stainless steel tubes (see file attached).
Plug connection is necessary to be able to ensure the movement of the pipe 2 relation the pipe 1 and replace it in the event of leakage.
The range of movement of the tube 2 - 0 ... 1 mm.
Working medium - petroleum products.
Operating temperatures - up to 400 C, pressures - up to 250 bar (25 MPa).
1. Connections diagram (Figure 1):
The connection includes:
- elastic bellows (more than 2 layers, each layer has a thickness of 0.15-0.2 mm, the total thickness of the at 3 layers is 0.45-0.60 mm);
- ring seal graphite;
- two pairs of metal clamps which press support the bellows to the pipes;
- two pipe ends which have circular grooves for graphite sealing.
2. Connection technology (Figure 2-4.)
Figure 2 - Preparation of parts, in grooves the pipes stacked and pressed into a ring of graphite;
Figure 3 - all the parts are installed in its place;
Figure 4 - two clamp are tightened with bolts and nuts each other and compress the bellows on both sides.
3. The elastic deformation of the bellows (Figure 5).
Bellows must be elastic compressed radially by 1-2 mm.
The main question - is it possible to compress the bellows and O-rings made of graphite will therefore, so as to ensure the required tightness? If this is not possible, what can be the design?
Thanks in advance for your comments, criticisms and variants to connect two pipes.
