Well, diesel originally, but when they dig some of that green hydrogen up they'll just switch over to that. OK, I do know a couple of people working in the green hydrogen space, and there is a lot of money (mostly mine, ie taxpayer) going into it, but it still has not been shown to work at scale, I think.

Cheers

Back to the past, I think propliners will make a return.

"Engines that convert green hydrogen into electricity" Has he been smelling the kerosene too much?

There is no way that this is going to happen and make commercial sense.

"It was well suited to flight as it was super light" - Give me strength. Super light = very low density = super low energy available.

Hydrogen at least will be burnt so the weight will reduce over the flight, but the rest of this article is pure and undiluted bull shit. IMHO and I'm an advocate for alternative energy sources, but some people just can't help over promising to a ridiculous degree unfortunately and it looses all credibility.

I think the handling of H2, and the ground support, make this an impossible solution, forget about the airplane systems for handling H2. Remember the problems doing something "simple" like Li batteries.

Possibly there are ways around this, like using Ammonia as a source for H2 ... which come with other problems ... no doubt.

"It was well suited to flight as it was super light"

LittleInch, when I read that I thought pretty much the same as you. Super light just means you can't carry much around with you. Carrying capacity of transportation fuels are generally limited by volume, not by weight. H2 has the highest energy density by mass, among the worst by volume. You'd think an "energy tycoon" would know the difference. Sheesh.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
