Electric motor hp question

Does anyone know what the equivalent internal combustion engine horsepower rating would be on a: 350hp 1780RPM 445T Frame 460volts

I am assuming the 350 is maintained horsepower, since that is how electric motors are rated. What is the peak?
Also, if anyone knows what one of these weighs, that would be great to.

Thanks!

I would also like to know the equivalent peak horsepower of this one:
100hp 3530RPM 365TS Frame

For NEMA motors you can usually figure the motor is good for not less than double the continuous nameplate hp for one minute. A 10% duty cycle would be a safe limit.

To get this same continuous and peak output from an internal combustion engine would require sizing the engine more closely to the peak hp than the continuous hp.

This assumes that your load is using all the continuous and peak output the electric motors can give. If your load is not using all of it, you could size your internal combustion engine to the peak load hp instead.

I'm not sure I believe the nameplate data for the 350hp. I've never seen 350hp at 1780rpm squeezed into a 440 frame, and a 445T at that. You might want to double check that.

I agree with DickDV. My experience is that it isn't cut and dry on several fronts. Torque response is a big issue. Electric motors can respond very quickly to step changes in loading, where an engine must "spin up" to it's peak torque output. This often leads to engines being over sized for a task based upon their step-change response capabilities whereas an electric motor of less HP can accomplish the same job.

DickDV,
Reliance (now Baldor) for one offers up to 500HP in a 440 frame, although it is a TEBC inverter duty motor.

I got a Louis Allis 600 HP two pole in a 449TS frame in for repair several years ago. This ODP motor had a history of failing every year or so. I wound it with DDG over film, taped the endturns back to the slot and dipped it in VPI varnish 4 times with each end baked with its endturns down twice. Last time I talked to the customer, it was still running.
