I have a question that I'm hoping someone here can answer. What kind of electric motor (power/specs etc.) would be best to power a small circular saw blade (+/- 3in diameter) that could cut through thin softer wood? If anyone could provide some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Recommended for you

1/8 to 1/4 hp.
1800 RPM more or less but not critical.
Split phase, capacitor start.
Possibly a shaded pole motor if you can find one.
You may have better luck if you tell us what motors you have available or can find used or surplus and let us comment on the suitability.
