I just bought a VW Vanagon and found out that the wirirng comming from the altrenator "Bosch" are disconected. It has two red wires comming from the voltage regulator that is in the alternator. One wire is bigger than the other. I believe that one goes to the hot side of the battery but the other I have no idea were does it go?

Thanks.

Bmail, Have an alternator Number? I can look up specifics if you like.

As for the wires, the larger one goes on the terminal marked "Bat" and is most likely the alternator output to battery.
As for the other, look for a terminal marked "Ign" (Ignition).

Good luck.

The big red wire goes directly to battery, the other goes to one side of the charging control lamp and the other side of the lamp must go to 12Volt over contact key.
