A co-worker and I were having a discussion about electroplating and the idea of electrochemical bonding came up. I've never heard of such a technique but it got me curious about whether or not it could be possible. For example, If I had two copper wires in an solution, could these be bonded to each other through electrochemical means?

You could plate material onto them, but if you plate using them as the anode and cathode then one will loose metal and the other gain.
You also cannot plate into deep crevices, it is a function of the current distribution.
