Hey,

I am trying to find some articles that reference the usage of shields, robbers and thieves. These would be utilized in the electroplating/electroforming of iron in an effort to improve the deposit uniformity. I would appreciate any tips and the address of any sites that have this information.
Thanks

Hi Honeymeal:

Robbers and thieves are used to steal away the deposit from areas of the part. Different areas of a part, such as edges, corners and areas closest to the anode are high current density areas and generally receive a thicker deposit. The robbers and thieves will receive some of the deposit thus making the deposit on the part more uniform and will also prevent the growth of nodules on the edges and corners.

These robbers and thieves can be as simple as copper wires that get replaced as needed.

I hope this helps, please have a great day.
Steved
