What all should the steel supports for the elevator guiderails be checked for ? The guide rails impose lateral loads (static and dynamic) on the support wherever they are connected via rail brackets. The steel tubes that provide support need to be checked for deflection due to the imposed loads at the locations of the bracket connections. Is there anything else that's missing ?

You need to get the loads from the elevator manufacturer. They should provide preliminary loads to design around then once the contractor submits you check those against the design. Depending on the elevator, the designer for the structure is only responsible for the structure and the rails/embeds are in the elevator manufacturer's scope.

This thread was started by a member who was creating an elevator design guide for his firm: Link

There's some good info in there about the source documents for elevator loads. I'd actually love to have the member's design guide but I'm sure that's unlikely to happen.
