Can anyone tell me the calculation I need to find the diameter and length of anchor I need to safely anchor a flight of stairs? The sides are MC12x10.6 with standard pan steps.

Your question is too broad are you looking to bolt your stair to concrete? how big is the stair? what type of importance factor you need to apply(is it a school or an industrial stair)? is it an indoor stair? once you answer this questions and others you can go and check a catalog from Hilti for example and there you will find how to calculate the resistance of a fastener that you choose

If you're using an embed plate with headed studs you need to pick a diameter and length and pattern and check it with App. D. You could try using shear friction with debar welded to the plate. I do that when the loads get too high for the App. D calcs.
