Sorry if this seems like a repost, but my original post over the the weekend seemed quickly disappear down the threads.
When using an embed plate, specifically in a face of a concrete beam, how much do the studs impact the shear capacity of the beam?
I can't find any guidance, or even research paper on this, so maybe I'm overthinking it; however, if for example were dealing w/ a 8x16 beam (typical size in my parts in for a 8" cmu construction) - it seems that having 3 studs cut thru any given section of the beam, especially where a load comes in that induces high shear, there should be some reduction to Vc. If anything, the face of the studs and the concrete immediately around it will be very smooth, and any kind of shear friction mechanism will be compromised.
Thanks in advance.
