Hey, I have a component for which I need to embed some aluminium inserts into a CFRP component during the laminating procedure.
The part consists of a foam core wrapped in carbon. The aluminium inserts are for the connection points.
I was wondering if you could help me with some tips about making a reliable bond between the inserts and the carbon layers.
I have the following plan:
-Sandblast the inserts to obtain a rough surface and remove the oxide layer,
-Treat the surface with 3M AC130 surface pre-treatment,
-Coat inserts with resin to insulate from carbon fibers (avoid galvanic cell),
-Perform lamination (hand laminate)
Please let me know if there is anything that I'm missing.
