Section 908 Emergency Alarm Systems calls for a local alarm and an alarm at a constantly attended location, it also refernces requirements in section 415 for occupancy H. Do these systems need to be monitored by the fire alarm system?

Specifically the fire alarm system needs to be monitored by the fire-alarm as a supervisory?

I seen these systems connected to the main building fire alarm panel and monitored.

The IFC does not require these systems to be monitored. In the 2012 IFC, monitoring will be required, not because of a change to the IFC but because of the requirements in the 2010 edition of NFPA 72.

Thanks, I just heard Honeywell is coming out with a fire-gas combination detector. They're combining their specialties of the fire groups with honeywell analytics to address this issue.

Honeywell's acquisition of several gas and vapor detection manufacturers has really been good from the perspective of new technologies. Thanks desnov for the information.
