We generate 5,000 gallon batches of spent caustic scrubber from stack emission control. The routine is to ship off site by tanker truck for treatment. We are looking into alernatives. We use to treat on site when we had a pretreatment plant, which we demolished.

My first step is if I can apply for a General Permit or an Individual Wastewater Discharge Permit to discharge to the sewer after some monitoring and solids removal. I am hoping for a General Permit. It makes things much easier.

I was searching for information on catagories of wastewater. What I am interested in is if there is any guidelines, documents, or regulations that apply to emission control wastewater. Sometimes regulatory agencies will catagorize these and set less stringent requirements. I need a cost less than off site disposal.

Vintage,

I believe that the materials from the University of Toledo WW treatment course listed the different classifications. If you would like to email me your contact info to glenn@panner.com, I will send you a copy of what I have.
